RUG CARE MAINTENANCE & CLEANING 

VACUUMING

Vacuum the carpets regularly to keep it dust free.   Do not use harsh brush attachments on soft carpets. Vacuum should always be done in the direction of pile/nape and not against it.

SNAGS

Use scissors to clip snags. Do not pull - you might damage your carpet.

HEAVY TRAFFIC LOCATIONS

In heavy traffic locations consider professional cleaning once every 6 months.

WATER DAMAGE

In the event of extensive water damage consult professional cleaners to dry your carpet from the front and the back.  Avoid placing any plant pot on rugs directly.

SUNLIGHT

Occasionally, once a month or so put your rug in the sun so that it can breathe. Sun is a natural medicine for carpets, removes moisture and brings texture. Make sure that you don’t put in harsh sunlight. Too much direct sunlight will fade the rug.

ROTATE YOUR RUG

Keep rotating the rug for equal wear and tear.  Even with the highest quality dyes, no rug is completely impervious to fading. You should rotate your rug every so often is ensure that fading occurs evenly.  Use Rug protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to avoid flattening of your rug pile. Rotating your rug every few months will help relieve area from excessive wear.

TREATMENT OF A SPILL

Address any spillage quickly.  For a food spill, gently remove as much as the solid material you can with a spoon, or dull knife.  Add water and blot. You can use a mild detergent to clean the affected area, wash with water and blot. Always treat the affected area immediately.   The longer the spill sits there, harder it will be to remove to remove the stains. 

You will need professional help when its hard oil spillage, paint, oil or mud. 

For tougher stains, make a solution of white vinegar, water, and mild detergent. Apply the foam from the mixing of the solutions on stains with a cotton cloth. Let it sit for 2-5 mins and damp with clean, dry cloth.

PET SOILING

For pet soiling, remove dirt with a spoon and absorb the liquid with a paper towel.  Sprinkle some baking soda and water-vinegar solution over stain. Let it sit and gently scrub the area, blot again then vacuum to remove all liquid. Leave it to dry in the open for some time.

WOOL RUG CARE

Wool rugs especially the new wool rugs may shed. To remove excess shedding, vacuum the carpets in the direction of the pile preferably. It will diminish in a few weeks.

BAMBOO SILK & VISCOSE RUG CARE

Bamboo Silk & Viscose rugs are an artificial silk.   The best way to clean is the rug is with a Carpet Sweeper or low suction mode on Vacuum.

Bamboo Silk & Viscose are very absorbent, for general spills use a mild detergent and blot with paper towel. For tough stains use water- white vinegar and mild detergent solution, use the foam that develops from the mixing of the vinegar and detergent. Apply in the affected area, rub gently and blot. 

Install Bamboo Silk and Viscose rugs in dry and cool locations; high heat can shrink the yarn and discoloration.

WHAT IS BAMBOO SILK?

Bamboo Silk is and extract from the renewable resource of bamboo stalks. It has the lustre and softness of real silk. The fibre is breathable and cool to touch.  It's antibacterial, anti fungal and anti-static. Bamboo silk greatly discourages the formation of bacteria. Bamboo silk carpets has high durability when combined with wool or cotton and can be placed in high traffic areas.

WHAT IS ABRASH?

The dying process of producing hand spun yarn means that the colour may not always take to the yarn evenly resulting in an effect called abrash. This gives your hand knotted rug its unique character.

PACKAGING 

Packaging and shipping may cause temporary crease. To remove them reverse roll and give the rug some time to settle.
