The process of choosing a rug is similar to selecting a piece of art. In fact, we at Rug Tailors believe that our rugs are artworks in their own right.

If you are looking to create a bold statement in the room then select a rug with visual drama and strong colour.

If you are after a calmer transition, then select a rug with more tranquil tones.

A rug will define the space and create an atmosphere in the room.

Size Counts

Don't be afraid of large rugs.  A rug will help pull a space together and creates a destination, especially in open floor plan designs.

Too often we see rugs that a too small for the space creating unsettling scale in the room.  Ideally, furniture should sit on the rug to unify the space.

The ARRANGEMENT

Living Layout: If your sofa and chairs float in the middle of the room your rug should be large enough to place all furniture legs on.
If your sofa or chairs are up against a wall then only place the front legs or each piece on the rug.

Dining Layout: The rug should sit under the table with room for your chairs. Measure the table then add 1.5 meters to the width and the length.

Bedroom Layout: Place the rug from the lower 2/3rd of the bed extending out past the bed a minimum of 60cm all round.
